We are proud to announce the launch of http://renelio-marin.com/ at MOMA’s playground on Saturday, May 8th, 2010, from 8.00 pm until morning. For this highly expected event we have invited the most famous and representative legendary NYC graffiti artists from the last three decades. Taki 183 is the first graffiti artist ever to get worldwide recognition after an article in the New York Times in 1971. Though Taki is a grown man now with a wife and children, he agreed to tag a wall for the launching of Art City magazine at MOMA’s playground party.
We will also have opportunity to meet and see another popular graffiti figure of the 1980’s, Fab 5 Freddy (Fred Brathwaite) from Brooklyn. That way you will see a Brooklyn style legend and a Manhattan style legend in action. Fab 5 Freddy is credited with helping to spread the influence of graffiti and rap music beyond its early foundations in the Bronx, and linking it with the mostly white downtown art and music scenes.
Debbie Harry, from Blondie, will be providing the music for all to enjoy and dance. Also, Charlie Ahearn, independent filmmaker who produced fiction film Wild Style in 1982 is going to screen his latest feature. We have invited Style Wars famous graffiti artists Skeme, Dondi, MinOne and Zephyr. Representatives of the new stencil graffiti genre, Banksi, from London, and Jeff Aerosol, from Paris, will be tagging a wall right across our NYC legends.
There is going to be free drinks, food, tons of music and the most wonderful and interesting people in NYC to hang out with. Don’t miss this rare opportunity that probably is not going to happen again in a lifetime. Invite your friends and we’ll see you on Saturday and let’s party all night long.
